Mizuhito Kanehara (born 1954) is a Japanese translator and scholar of English literature, and Professor Emeritus at Hosei University. Specializing in children's and young adult literature, he has translated hundreds of English-language novels and nonfiction works, introducing generations of Japanese readers to literature from around the world. His translations include the Percy Jackson series, The Moon and Sixpence, and Of Human Bondage, and he has also written extensively on translation and reading. Through a career spanning more than six hundred published translations, he has helped connect international literature with Japanese readers while inspiring a lifelong love of books among younger generations.
