金原 瑞人（かねはら みずひと、1954年–）は、日本の翻訳家・英文学者。岡山市生まれ。法政大学名誉教授。児童文学やヤングアダルト小説から、英米文学の古典、ノンフィクションまで幅広く翻訳し、若い読者に海外文学を紹介してきた。交通事故で亡くなった少年ハリーが、姉にひどい言葉を残したことを悔やみ、生者の世界へ戻る物語、アレックス・シアラーの『青空のむこう』（原題 “The Great Blue Yonder”）を翻訳。少年の視点から、死と別れ、日常のかけがえのなさを描く作品を日本に届けた。また、仕事も家庭も捨てて絵画に身を投じる男ストリックランドを、周囲の人々の証言と語り手の観察から描くサマセット・モームの『月と六ペンス』（原題 “The Moon and Sixpence”）の新訳も手がけた。翻訳に加えて、読書案内やエッセイ、翻訳の実践を扱う著作も執筆。若者の葛藤や家族との関係を描く現代小説と、芸術や人生の選択を問う古典の双方を、読者が日本語で手に取るための仕事を続けている。
Mizuhito Kanehara (born 1954) is a Japanese translator and scholar of English literature, and a professor emeritus at Hosei University. Born in Okayama, he has translated widely across children’s literature, young adult fiction, literary classics and nonfiction, introducing Japanese readers to works from the English-speaking world. Following a boy who dies in a road accident and returns to the world of the living, Alex Shearer’s “The Great Blue Yonder” is among his translations. Through Harry’s regret over his last words to his sister, the novel explores death, separation and the value of ordinary life from a child’s perspective. Examining a very different departure from everyday existence, W. Somerset Maugham’s “The Moon and Sixpence,” which Kanehara also translated, follows Charles Strickland as he abandons his family and career to pursue painting. The narrator’s encounters and other people’s accounts gradually reveal the painter’s ambitions and the consequences of his choices. Alongside translation, Kanehara writes essays, reading guides and books about the practical decisions involved in rendering literature into Japanese. His work spans contemporary stories of adolescence and family relationships as well as older novels concerned with artistic ambition and the choices that shape a life.
