Chōgorō Kaionji (1901–1977) was a Japanese novelist best known for his historical fiction, which combined meticulous historical research with vivid portrayals of historical figures. He was awarded the Order of Culture in 1968 for his contributions to Japanese literature. His best-known novel, "Ten to Chi to" ("Heaven and Earth"), depicts the rivalry between Uesugi Kenshin and Takeda Shingen, bringing the Sengoku period to life through rich historical detail and compelling storytelling.
