Ryusho Kadota (born 1958) is a Japanese nonfiction writer and journalist. After graduating from Chuo University’s Faculty of Law, he joined Shinchosha, where he worked as a reporter and editor for "Shukan Shincho," covering crime, politics, economics, sports, and other subjects. As an independent writer, he has produced nonfiction based on interviews with people directly involved in wars, disasters, major incidents, and other historical events. His "Kono Inochi, Gi ni Sasagu: Taiwan o Sukutta Rikugun Chujo Nemoto Hiroshi no Kiseki" received the 19th Yamamoto Shichihei Prize. The book reconstructs the story of Hiroshi Nemoto, a former Imperial Japanese Army lieutenant general who secretly traveled to Taiwan after World War II to assist Chiang Kai-shek’s forces during the final stages of the Chinese Civil War. Drawing on interviews and historical records, Kadota traces how Nemoto left his family in Japan, assumed a Chinese name, and became involved in the defense of Kinmen against Communist forces.
