Kyne Santos（カイン・サントス） フィリピン生まれ、カナダを拠点とする数学コミュニケーター、作家、ドラァグクイーン。5歳で家族とともにカナダへ移住し、ウォータールー大学で数学を学んだ。2020年には『Canada's Drag Race』に出演し、その後は「数学の女王（The Math Queen）」としてTikTokやYouTubeなどで数学や科学、歴史を分かりやすく紹介する動画を配信。ユーモアとドラァグのパフォーマンスを融合させた独自のスタイルで、STEM教育の普及に取り組んでいる。代表作『Math in Drag』（未邦訳）は、数学とドラァグという一見異なる世界を結び付け、幾何学や確率、トポロジーなどの数学を創造性や芸術、日常生活と関連付けながら解説した一冊である。数学は誰もが楽しめる創造的な営みであることを伝える作品として注目を集め、2025年ロサンゼルス・タイムズ図書賞のファイナリストにも選ばれた。
Kyne Santos is a Filipino Canadian mathematics communicator, author, and drag queen. Born in Manila and raised in Ontario, Canada, Kyne earned a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and later became a graduate student in applied mathematics at Toronto Metropolitan University. After appearing on the first season of "Canada's Drag Race" in 2020, Kyne built a global audience through social media by combining mathematics, science, history, and drag performance in engaging educational videos. Her best-known book, "Math in Drag," demonstrates how mathematical ideas—from geometry and probability to topology—can be understood through creativity, storytelling, and performance. Celebrated for making mathematics accessible, inclusive, and entertaining, the book was a finalist for the 2025 Los Angeles Times Book Prize.
