カーク・イェーガーは、アメリカの化学者、爆発物科学捜査の専門家。コーネル大学で無機化学の博士号を取得し、2000年にFBIへ入局した。爆発物研究所の科学捜査官として世界各地の爆破事件を調査し、即席爆発装置の分析や検知・防止技術の開発に携わった後、FBIの主任爆発物科学者を務める。妹のセリーン・イェーガーとの共著『FBI爆発物科学捜査班 テロリストとの30年戦争』（The Bomb Doctor: A Scientist’s Story of Bombers, Beakers, and Bloodhounds）では、現場に残された破片や化学物質から爆弾を復元し、製造方法や犯人像を特定していく捜査の実際を、自身が関わった国際的な爆破事件とともに描いている。
Kirk Yeager is an American chemist and explosives-forensics specialist. After earning a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Cornell University, he joined the FBI in 2000. As a forensic examiner in the FBI Laboratory’s Explosives Unit, he investigated bombing scenes around the world and worked on the analysis, detection, and prevention of improvised explosive devices before becoming the Bureau’s Chief Explosives Scientist. Co-authored with his sister Selene Yeager, “The Bomb Doctor: A Scientist’s Story of Bombers, Beakers, and Bloodhounds” describes how investigators reconstruct explosive devices from fragments and chemical evidence to determine how bombs were made and identify those responsible.
