カリム・カッタン（1989年–）は、エルサレムに生まれ、ベツレヘムで育ったパレスチナ人の小説家、詩人、エッセイスト。比較文学の博士号を持ち、フランスを拠点にフランス語と英語で作品を発表している。故郷の村に戻った青年が、荒廃した一族の屋敷とそこに現れる亡霊を通して家族とパレスチナの歴史をたどる『The Palace on the Higher Hill』（未邦訳）で、2021年フランコフォニー五大陸賞を受賞。『Eden at Dawn』（未邦訳）は、分断されたパレスチナを旅する二人の男性の恋を、精霊や伝説が息づく幻想的な世界のなかに描いた小説で、ジェフリー・ザッカーマンによる英訳が2026年全米図書賞翻訳文学部門のロングリストに選ばれた。
Karim Kattan (born 1989) is a Palestinian novelist, poet, and essayist who was born in Jerusalem, raised in Bethlehem, and is based in France. He holds a doctorate in comparative literature and writes in both French and English. “The Palace on the Higher Hill,” in which a young man returns to his native village and uncovers his family’s history through an abandoned mansion and its ghosts, won the 2021 Prix des cinq continents de la Francophonie. “Eden at Dawn” follows two men whose romance unfolds during a journey across a divided Palestine, within an imaginative landscape populated by jinn, legends, and a narrating sky. Jeffrey Zuckerman’s English translation was longlisted for the 2026 National Book Award for Translated Literature.
