Karen Hao（カレン・ハオ）は、アメリカのテクノロジージャーナリスト、作家。マサチューセッツ工科大学（MIT）で機械工学を学び、AIエンジニアを経てジャーナリズムの道に進んだ。MIT Technology ReviewのAI担当シニアエディターとして人工知能を長年取材し、現在はBBCのポッドキャスト「The Interface」の共同ホストを務めるほか、The Atlantic や More Perfect Union などにも寄稿している。AIの技術だけでなく、その社会的・経済的・倫理的影響を掘り下げる報道で国際的に高く評価されている。2025年刊行の "Empire of AI: Dreams and Nightmares in Sam Altman's OpenAI" は、約260人への取材をもとにOpenAIの成長と生成AIをめぐる権力構造を描き、大きな反響を呼んだ。同書は2025年の全米批評家協会賞（ノンフィクション部門）を受賞した。
Karen Hao is an American technology journalist and author specializing in the societal impact of artificial intelligence. Trained as a mechanical engineer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), she began her career as an AI engineer before becoming a journalist. She previously served as Senior AI Editor at MIT Technology Review and now co-hosts the BBC podcast The Interface while contributing to publications including The Atlantic and More Perfect Union. Widely recognized for her investigative reporting on AI, she examines not only technological advances but also their ethical, economic, and geopolitical consequences.
