Karen G. Lloyd（カレン・G・ロイド）は、アメリカの微生物学者、生物地球化学者。University of Southern California教授。海底下の堆積物や永久凍土、深部地下環境など、生命が存在する極限環境の微生物を研究している。特に、地球内部に広がる「深部生物圏（deep biosphere）」の研究で国際的に知られ、微生物が地球の炭素循環や気候、生態系に果たす役割の解明に取り組んでいる。海洋調査や極地でのフィールドワークと最新の遺伝子解析技術を組み合わせ、地球上の未知の生命と生命の限界を探究する研究者として高く評価されている。
Karen G. Lloyd is an American microbiologist and biogeochemist and a professor at the University of Southern California. Her research focuses on microorganisms living in extreme environments, including deep-sea sediments, permafrost, and the deep subsurface. She is internationally recognized for her work on the deep biosphere, investigating how microorganisms beneath Earth's surface influence the global carbon cycle, climate, and ecosystems. Combining oceanographic expeditions and field research in remote environments with advanced genetic and molecular techniques, Lloyd explores the vast diversity of largely unknown microbial life and the limits of life on Earth.
