Camonghne Felix is an American poet, essayist, and political communications strategist. Raised in the Bronx, she teaches writing at The New School and has worked on political movements and electoral campaigns. In “Let the Poets Govern: A Declaration of Freedom,” Felix brings Black radical literary traditions into conversation with her experience in politics, presenting refusal not as withdrawal but as a practice for creating freedom, collective care, and new forms of social life. The book was longlisted for the 2026 National Book Award for Nonfiction.
