Keigo Higashino (born 1958) is a Japanese novelist. Born in Osaka, he made his literary debut after winning the Edogawa Rampo Prize in 1985 for Hōkago (After School). Renowned for his ingenious plots and finely crafted characters, he has written a wide range of mystery novels, suspense fiction, and human dramas. His best-known works include Naoko (The Secret), Journey Under the Midnight Sun, The Devotion of Suspect X, Newcomer, and The Miracles of the Namiya General Store. A recipient of numerous literary awards, including the prestigious Naoki Prize, Higashino is one of Japan's most celebrated contemporary authors, with his works translated into many languages and widely adapted for film, television, and the stage.
