『The Algorithm: How AI Decides Who Gets Hired, Monitored, Promoted, and Fired, and Why We Need to Fight Back Now』(未邦訳)では、履歴書選考、録画面接、性格診断、勤務評価に使われるAIを自ら検証し、無意味な回答や機械音声にも高得点を与えるシステム、性別や人種による偏り、判定に異議を申し立てにくい仕組みを明らかにしている。
Hilke Schellmann is a German investigative journalist, documentary filmmaker, and associate professor at New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. Her reporting focuses on automated decision-making, workplace surveillance, and the fairness and accountability of artificial intelligence. She previously worked as a multimedia reporter for The Wall Street Journal and directed video journalism at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. Her documentary “Outlawed in Pakistan,” about a woman seeking justice after reporting sexual violence, received an Emmy Award. In “The Algorithm: How AI Decides Who Gets Hired, Monitored, Promoted, and Fired, and Why We Need to Fight Back Now,” Schellmann tests résumé screeners, one-way video interviews, personality assessments, and workplace evaluation systems, exposing tools that reward meaningless answers or synthetic voices, reproduce gender and racial bias, and leave applicants with little means to challenge their scores.
