Naoya Higuchi (born 1981) is a Japanese writer and culinary researcher. After graduating from Hattori Nutrition College, he made his literary debut by winning the 48th Gunzo New Writers' Prize for "Sayonara America" in 2005. He later shifted his focus to food writing, becoming known for explaining cooking techniques and food science in a clear and practical way. Drawing on scientific evidence and hands-on experimentation, he has helped popularize a deeper understanding of everyday cooking among home cooks in Japan. His best-known book, "Ryori Ichinensei" ("Cooking for Beginners"), introduces fundamental cooking techniques and the science behind them, enabling readers to understand not only how to cook but also why particular methods work.
