吉野せい（よしの・せい、1899–1977）は、日本の作家。福島県生まれ。農家に嫁ぎ、農村での暮らしや自然、人々の営みを見つめながら創作を続けた。戦後になって本格的に執筆活動を始め、農村の日常や自然との共生、人間の生と死を、詩情豊かで簡潔な文体によって描いた作品で高く評価されている。1966年に刊行した『洟をたらした神』は、長年の生活体験に根ざした随筆集として高い評価を受け、日本文学を代表する随筆の一つとされる。1974年には『洟をたらした神』で日本エッセイスト・クラブ賞を受賞した。著書に『洟をたらした神』『草』『土の匂い』などがある。

Sei Yoshino (1899–1977) was a Japanese writer best known for her lyrical essays and autobiographical prose rooted in rural life. Born in Fukushima Prefecture, she spent most of her life in the countryside, where her experiences as a farmer's wife profoundly shaped her writing. Although she began publishing in earnest after World War II, her work soon gained recognition for its quiet yet powerful depictions of nature, everyday labor, family, and the dignity of ordinary people. Her best-known collection, "Hana o Tarashita Kami" ("The God with a Runny Nose"), is regarded as a classic of modern Japanese essays and received the Japan Essayists' Club Award in 1974. Her other notable works include "Kusa" ("Grass") and "Tsuchi no Nioi" ("The Scent of the Earth").
