ヨンチャン（Youngchan）- 韓国：漫画家

ヨンチャン（1992年生まれ）は、韓国・釜山出身の漫画家。高校卒業後に来日し、京都精華大学マンガ学部で学んだ。『ヤフ島』で第4回THE GATE大賞を受賞し、2018年にボート競技を題材とした『ベストエイト』で連載デビュー。代表作『リエゾン―こどものこころ診療所―』は竹村優作との共同原作で、文化庁メディア芸術祭の審査委員会推薦作品に選ばれ、テレビドラマ化された。発達障害の特性を持つ研修医・遠野志保が児童精神科医の佐山卓と働き、虐待、不登校、摂食障害、家族関係など、子どもと周囲の大人が抱える問題に向き合う姿を描いている。

Youngchan (born 1992) is a South Korean manga artist from Busan. After finishing high school, he moved to Japan and studied manga at Kyoto Seika University. His work “Yahoo Island” won the grand prize at the fourth THE GATE competition, and he made his serialization debut in 2018 with the rowing manga “Best Eight.” His best-known work, “Liaison: Kodomo no Kokoro Shinryōjo,” co-written with Yusaku Takemura, was selected as a Jury Recommendation at the Japan Media Arts Festival and adapted into a television drama. It follows medical resident Shiho Tono, who has traits associated with a developmental disorder, as she works with child psychiatrist Taku Sayama and encounters cases involving abuse, school refusal, eating disorders, and troubled family relationships.
