葉祥明(よう しょうめい、1946–) 日本の絵本作家、画家、詩人。熊本市生まれ。立教大学卒業後、絵本制作に取り組み、1973年に『ぼくの べんちに しろいとり』でデビュー。広い空や草原、木々、動物などを淡く柔らかな色彩で描く作風で知られ、絵本や詩画集を通して生命、自然、平和などを題材に作品を発表してきた。『風とひょう』でボローニャ国際児童図書展グラフィック賞を受賞。柳瀬房子が文を手がけた『地雷ではなく花をください』では、うさぎのサニーを主人公に、戦争が終わった後も人々を傷つけ続ける対人地雷の問題を伝え、地雷を撤去して花を植えられる平和な世界への願いを描いた。同作は日本絵本賞読者賞を受賞した。
Shomei Yoh (1946–) A Japanese picture-book artist, painter, and poet born in Kumamoto. After graduating from Rikkyo University, he began creating picture books and made his debut in 1973 with "Boku no Benchi ni Shiroi Tori." Known for softly colored landscapes of expansive skies, fields, trees, and animals, he has created picture books and illustrated poetry collections dealing with life, nature, and peace. His "Kaze to Hyo" received a graphic award at the Bologna Children's Book Fair. In "Jirai dewa Naku Hana o Kudasai," written by Fusako Yanase and illustrated by Yoh, a rabbit named Sunny introduces readers to the danger of landmines that continue to injure people long after wars have ended and expresses the hope that minefields can one day be cleared and replaced with flowers. The book received the Japan Picture Book Award Readers' Prize.
