Yoshihara Kanon is a Japanese historical fiction writer. Born in Tokyo and based in Fukui Prefecture, she won the 99th All Yomimono New Writers' Award in 2019 and made her literary debut with the story collection "Kubizamurai: Strange Tales from Edo", which includes a revised version of the award-winning work. Blending supernatural elements with warm, character-driven storytelling, she has established herself as a distinctive new voice in Edo-period historical fiction. Her best-known work, "Kubizamurai: Strange Tales from Edo", follows the unlikely journey of a wandering young samurai and a talking severed head, weaving humor, mystery, and humanity into an original historical fantasy.
