Mitsue Yoda is a Japanese translator of technical documents and nonfiction books. After graduating from Ochanomizu University’s Faculty of Home Economics, she worked as a systems engineer for an international IT company before becoming a freelance translator. She also teaches translation. Her translations include Clayton M. Christensen and his collaborators’ books on innovation, customer needs, and the creation of markets. In Sean Gerrish’s “How Smart Machines Think,” she translated explanations of systems ranging from self-driving vehicles and speech recognition to game-playing AI. The book follows the ideas and engineering decisions behind these technologies, reflecting the connection between her technical background and her broader work on business and society.
