Jonas Hassen Khemiri (1978–) is a Swedish novelist and playwright. Born in Stockholm to a Tunisian father and a Swedish mother, he studied literature at Stockholm University and international economics at the Stockholm School of Economics. His debut novel, “One Eye Red,” became a bestseller in Sweden and was adapted into a film. “Everything I Don’t Remember” won the August Prize, while “The Family Clause” received the Prix Médicis étranger and was a finalist for the National Book Award. Across his fiction and plays, Khemiri explores migration, language, identity, family memory, race, and belonging in contemporary Sweden. “The Sisters” follows three sisters of Tunisian and Swedish descent over thirty-five years as they confront an inherited family story and attempt to rewrite its hold over their lives.
