Toshiya Watanabe (born 1959) is Vice President of Institute of Science Tokyo and a Visiting Professor at the Institute for Future Initiatives, the University of Tokyo. Specializing in intellectual property management, innovation policy, and technology management, his research focuses on intellectual property strategy, open innovation, standardization, and the governance of intangible assets. He has played a leading role in shaping Japan's intellectual property and innovation policies and has been a key advocate of intellectual property and intangible asset governance. As Chairman of WE AT, he also works to build new innovation ecosystems that connect science, technology, and society.
