Uoto (born 1997) is a Japanese manga artist from Tokyo. He made his serialization debut in 2018 with "100 Meters," a story about young runners devoted to the 100-meter sprint. His representative work, "Orb: On the Movements of the Earth," is a historical fiction manga set in fifteenth-century Europe, where successive individuals risk their lives to preserve and advance research into the forbidden heliocentric model. The series won the Manga Grand Prize at the 26th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize and the comics category of the 54th Seiun Award. Through characters threatened with torture and execution, it traces how observation, calculation, and intellectual conviction allow an idea to pass from one person and generation to another.
