Viet Thanh Nguyen（ヴィエト・タン・ウェン、1971年生まれ）は、ベトナム生まれのアメリカの小説家、評論家、文学研究者。ブオン・マ・トート生まれ。サイゴン陥落後の1975年に家族とともに難民としてアメリカへ移住した。カリフォルニア大学バークレー校で博士号（Ph.D.）を取得し、南カリフォルニア大学教授として英文学やアメリカ研究を教えている。戦争、難民、記憶、アイデンティティ、移民経験をテーマにした作品で国際的に高く評価され、現代アメリカ文学を代表する作家・知識人の一人とされる。2015年刊行の『The Sympathizer』は、ベトナム戦争終結後の亡命生活をスパイの視点から描いた長編小説として高く評価され、2016年のピューリッツァー賞 フィクション部門を受賞した。著書に『The Sympathizer』『The Committed』『Nothing Ever Dies』『A Man of Two Faces』などがある。
Viet Thanh Nguyen (born 1971) is a Vietnamese-born American novelist, critic, and literary scholar. Born in Buôn Ma Thuột, he fled Vietnam with his family as a refugee following the Fall of Saigon in 1975. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley and is Professor of English, American Studies, and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California. Widely recognized as one of the leading contemporary voices on war, memory, identity, and the refugee experience, Nguyen combines literary fiction with historical and political insight. His debut novel The Sympathizer (2015), a spy novel set in the aftermath of the Vietnam War, won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. His other notable works include The Committed, Nothing Ever Dies: Vietnam and the Memory of War, and A Man of Two Faces: A Memoir, A History, A Memorial.
