Hiroo Ukita is an optical-engineering researcher whose work includes optical discs, optical micromachines, and optical tweezers. After graduate study at Tohoku University and research at NTT, he joined Ritsumeikan University. His work explores the use of light for information storage and the manipulation of small objects.
