Ueno Kosei (born 1962) is a Japanese magazine editor, essayist, and food producer. Born in Tochigi Prefecture, he graduated from Hosei University and worked for newspapers and other publications before joining President Inc. in 2001. He became closely involved in editing the food magazine dancyu and served as its editor-in-chief from 2017 to 2023, introducing readers to chefs, producers, restaurants, and the pleasures of everyday meals. He now heads win-do.us and works as a writer, producer, and adviser on food-related projects. “Chichi no Hitsugi ni Yakisoba o” is a collection of essays about caring for his aging parents, the death of his father, and memories of meals shared by his family. Through yakisoba, sushi, and familiar home cooking, the book records how ordinary food can preserve the history of a family.
