Shunichi Doba (born 1963) is a Japanese novelist. After graduating from Aoyama Gakuin University, he worked as a newspaper reporter while writing fiction and received the Subaru Literary Newcomer Award in 2000 for “8 Nen” (“Eight Years”). He left journalism in 2013 to write full-time and has since published numerous police procedurals and sports novels. His best-known work, the “Keiji Narusawa Ryo” series, follows detective Ryo Narusawa as he moves from the Niigata Prefectural Police to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, combining criminal investigations with conflicts inside the police organization and tensions involving his family and colleagues.
