Tom Drury (1956–) is an American novelist. Born in a small farming community in Iowa, he graduated from the University of Iowa. His debut novel, “The End of Vandalism,” follows a sheriff, a thief, and the woman whose life connects them, portraying the intersecting lives of residents in the fictional Midwestern Grouse County through understated dialogue and dry humor. Drury continued the Grouse County sequence with “Hunts in Dreams” and “Pacific.” His other novels include “The Black Brook” and “The Driftless Area,” which was adapted into a film. In 1996, Granta named him one of its Best Young American Novelists, and he has also received a Guggenheim Fellowship.
