略歴（Biography）
童話屋（どうわや）は、1976年設立の日本の出版社。1977年に東京・渋谷で「童話屋書店」を開き、子どもの本を扱う書店や子ども図書館の運営を経て、1980年に出版部を創設した。詩集と絵本を中心に、安野光雅、工藤直子、茨木のり子、まど・みちおなどの作品を刊行。宮沢賢治、谷川俊太郎、石垣りん、吉野弘らの詩を収めた『ポケット詩集』シリーズや、レオ・バスカーリア作『葉っぱのフレディ――いのちの旅』など、子どもだけでなく大人にもひらかれた本づくりを続けている。
Dowaya is a Japanese publishing house established in 1976. It opened the Dowaya Bookstore in Shibuya, Tokyo, in 1977 and, after operating bookstores and children's libraries, established its publishing division in 1980. Specializing primarily in poetry and picture books, Dowaya has published works by artists and poets including Mitsumasa Anno, Naoko Kudo, Noriko Ibaragi, and Michio Mado. Its notable publications include the "Pocket Shishu" poetry anthology series, featuring poems by writers such as Kenji Miyazawa, Shuntaro Tanikawa, Rin Ishigaki, and Hiroshi Yoshino, and Leo Buscaglia's picture book "The Fall of Freddie the Leaf" in Japanese translation. Its books are created for children while also bringing poetry, art, and questions about life to adult readers.
