Donna Tartt (born 1963) is an American novelist. She studied creative writing at Bennington College, where her exceptional literary talent was recognized while she was still a student. Renowned for her meticulously crafted novels and elegant prose, Tartt explores themes of guilt, beauty, fate, morality, and the complexities of human psychology. She gained international acclaim with her debut novel The Secret History (1992), and her third novel, The Goldfinch (2013), won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. The novel, which follows a boy whose life is transformed after losing his mother in a terrorist bombing, was adapted into a feature film in 2019. Her published novels include The Secret History, The Little Friend, and The Goldfinch.
