Charles D. Ellis (born 1937) is an American investor and management consultant. He is the founder of Greenwich Associates and has served in prominent leadership roles, including as a trustee of the Yale University Investment Committee and a director of The Vanguard Group. Widely recognized for his influence on institutional investing and the development of index investing, he has helped shape modern investment practice. His best-known book, "Winning the Loser's Game," argues that consistently outperforming the market is exceptionally difficult and makes the case for long-term, diversified, low-cost investing.
