略歴（Biography）
デズモンド・シャム（Desmond Shum）は、中国生まれの実業家、投資家、作家。中国で不動産開発やインフラ事業に携わり、急成長する経済の中で事業を拡大した経験を持つ。中国政財界との関わりを通じて見聞きした実態をもとに、中国の政治権力と経済の関係を描いた回想録『レッド・ルーレット』（原題：Red Roulette: An Insider's Story of Wealth, Power, Corruption, and Vengeance in Today's China）を発表し、大きな反響を呼んだ。同書では、中国の急速な経済発展の裏側で繰り広げられる権力闘争や腐敗、政商の実像を克明に描いている。
Desmond Shum is a Chinese-born businessman, investor, and author. After building a successful career in real estate and infrastructure development in China, he became known internationally for his firsthand account of the close ties between political power and business in the country. His memoir Red Roulette: An Insider's Story of Wealth, Power, Corruption, and Vengeance in Today's China draws on his personal experiences to examine the workings of China's political and economic elite, offering a rare insider's perspective on wealth, influence, and corruption in contemporary China.
