David Szalay（デイヴィッド・サライ、1974年生まれ）は、カナダ生まれのイギリスの小説家。カナダ・モントリオールで生まれ、幼少期にイギリスへ移住。University of Oxfordで学んだ後、小説家として活動を始めた。現代ヨーロッパを舞台に、アイデンティティ、孤独、男性性、グローバル化といったテーマを、端正で簡潔な文体で描く作品で高い評価を受けている。2016年の小説"All That Man Is"はBooker Prizeの最終候補となり、Hawthornden Prizeを受賞。2025年には"Flesh"でOrwell Prize for Political Fictionを受賞した。著書に"London and the South-East"、"Spring"、"Turbulence"などがある。
David Szalay (born 1974) is a British novelist born in Montreal, Canada. Raised in the United Kingdom and educated at the University of Oxford, he is acclaimed for his elegant, restrained prose and his exploration of identity, masculinity, globalization, and the complexities of contemporary European life. His novel "All That Man Is" was shortlisted for the 2016 Booker Prize and won the Hawthornden Prize, establishing him as one of the leading voices in contemporary British fiction. In 2025, his novel "Flesh" received the Orwell Prize for Political Fiction. His other notable works include "London and the South-East," "Spring," and "Turbulence."
