David Brooks（デイヴィッド・ブルックス、1961年生まれ）は、アメリカのジャーナリスト、政治・社会評論家、作家。カナダ・トロント生まれ。幼少期にアメリカへ移住し、シカゴ大学を卒業した。ジャーナリストとして活躍し、『ニューヨーク・タイムズ』のコラムニストとして政治、社会、文化について幅広く論じている。保守とリベラル双方の視点を踏まえた穏健な論考で知られ、人間の人格形成、コミュニティ、道徳、社会的つながりをテーマにした著作でも高く評価されている。2023年刊行の How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply and Being Deeply Seen では、他者を深く理解し、豊かな人間関係を築くための対話や共感のあり方を考察している。著書に『人生の科学―「無意識」があなたの一生を決める』『あなたの人生の意味―先人に学ぶ「惜しまれる生き方」』などがある。
David Brooks (born 1961) is an American journalist, political and cultural commentator, and author. Born in Toronto, he moved to the United States as a child and graduated from the University of Chicago. He is a longtime columnist for The New York Times, where he writes on politics, society, and culture. Known for his thoughtful and moderate perspective, Brooks has also written extensively about character, community, morality, and human relationships. His notable works include Bobos in Paradise, The Social Animal, The Road to Character, The Second Mountain, and How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply and Being Deeply Seen.
