David Brion Davis（デイヴィッド・ブライオン・デイヴィス、1927–2019）は、アメリカの歴史学者。イェール大学名誉教授。ダートマス大学卒業後、ハーバード大学で歴史学博士号（Ph.D.）を取得した。専門は奴隷制、奴隷制度廃止運動、大西洋世界史、アメリカ思想史で、近代世界における奴隷制の歴史を宗教、思想、経済、政治の観点から総合的に分析した研究で国際的に高く評価されている。1966年刊行の『The Problem of Slavery in Western Culture』は、西洋文明における奴隷制の思想史を描いた画期的な研究として、1967年のピューリッツァー賞 一般ノンフィクション部門を受賞した。その後も『The Problem of Slavery in the Age of Revolution』『Inhuman Bondage』などを著し、奴隷制研究の発展に大きな影響を与えた。
David Brion Davis (1927–2019) was an American historian and Professor Emeritus at Yale University. After graduating from Dartmouth College, he earned his Ph.D. in History from Harvard University. He specialized in the history of slavery, abolition, the Atlantic world, and American intellectual history, and is widely regarded as one of the foremost scholars of slavery in the modern era. His groundbreaking book "The Problem of Slavery in Western Culture" examined the moral and intellectual foundations of slavery in Western civilization and won the 1967 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction. His later works, including "The Problem of Slavery in the Age of Revolution" and "Inhuman Bondage: The Rise and Fall of Slavery in the New World," established him as one of the most influential historians of slavery and abolition.
