デイヴィッド・ベロス（1945年–2025年）は、イギリスの文学研究者、翻訳家、伝記作家。プリンストン大学でフランス文学・比較文学教授を務め、同大学の翻訳・異文化コミュニケーション・プログラムの初代ディレクターを務めた。ジョルジュ・ペレックやイスマイル・カダレなどの作品を英訳し、2005年にはカダレ作品の翻訳によってマン・ブッカー国際賞の翻訳者として顕彰された。『耳のなかの魚――翻訳＝通訳をめぐる驚くべき冒険』（Is That a Fish in Your Ear?: Translation and the Meaning of Everything）では、文学、聖書、国際機関、映画字幕、機械翻訳などの事例をたどりながら、異なる言語の間で意味がどのように移され、社会の意思疎通を支えているのかを解き明かした。
David Bellos (1945–2025) was a British scholar of literature, translator, and biographer. He was Professor of French Literature and Comparative Literature at Princeton University and served as the first director of its Program in Translation and Intercultural Communication. He translated works by writers including Georges Perec and Ismail Kadare, and in 2005 became the first translator honored in connection with the Man Booker International Prize for his translations of Kadare. In “Is That a Fish in Your Ear?: Translation and the Meaning of Everything,” Bellos draws on examples from literature, the Bible, international institutions, film subtitling, and machine translation to explain how meaning moves between languages and makes communication across societies possible.
