スザンヌ・オサリヴァン（Suzanne O'Sullivan） アイルランド出身の神経内科医、臨床神経生理学者、ノンフィクション作家。ダブリンのトリニティ・カレッジで医学を学び、現在はロンドンの国立神経学・脳神経外科病院で診療に携わる。てんかんや機能性神経障害を専門とし、豊富な臨床経験をもとに、脳と心、身体の複雑な関係を一般読者にもわかりやすく伝えるノンフィクションで国際的な評価を得ている。代表作『眠りつづける少女たち――脳神経科医は〈謎の病〉を調査する旅に出た』は、世界各地で報告された原因不明の集団疾患や機能性疾患を追い、医学だけでは説明しきれない「病」の実像に迫った作品である。本書は2021年のRoyal Society Science Book Prize最終候補となったほか、It's All in Your Head でWellcome Book Prizeを受賞している。
Suzanne O'Sullivan is an Irish neurologist, clinical neurophysiologist, and nonfiction writer based in the United Kingdom. Educated at Trinity College Dublin, she is a consultant at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London, specializing in epilepsy and functional neurological disorders. Drawing on her clinical experience, she writes acclaimed books that explore the complex relationship between the brain, the body, and illness through compelling patient stories. Her book The Sleeping Beauties: And Other Stories of Mystery Illness investigates mysterious outbreaks of illness around the world and was shortlisted for the Royal Society Science Book Prize in 2021. Her earlier work It's All in Your Head won both the Wellcome Book Prize and the Royal Society of Biology General Book Prize, establishing her as one of today's leading medical writers.
