Steven Millhauser（スティーヴン・ミルハウザー、1943年生まれ）は、アメリカの小説家、短編作家。コロンビア大学卒業後、幻想と現実の境界を繊細かつ緻密な筆致で描く作品を発表し、現代アメリカ文学を代表する作家の一人として高く評価されている。寓話や幻想文学、歴史小説の要素を巧みに融合させ、人間の欲望、芸術、創造性、幻想への憧れをテーマにした作品で知られる。1996年刊行の『マーティン・ドレスラーの夢』は、19世紀末から20世紀初頭のニューヨークを舞台に、一人の実業家の成功と夢を描いた長編小説として高く評価され、1997年のピューリッツァー賞 フィクション部門を受賞した。著書に『エドウィン・マルハウス』『バーナム博物館』『ナイフ投げ師』『マーティン・ドレスラーの夢』『危険な笑い』などがある。

Steven Millhauser (born 1943) is an American novelist and short story writer. After graduating from Columbia University, he established himself as one of the leading voices in contemporary American literature through fiction that masterfully blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination. Renowned for his elegant prose and richly imaginative storytelling, Millhauser explores themes of desire, art, creativity, illusion, and obsession, often blending elements of fantasy, fable, and historical fiction. His novel Martin Dressler: The Tale of an American Dreamer (1996), a portrait of an ambitious entrepreneur in turn-of-the-century New York, won the 1997 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. His other notable works include Edwin Mullhouse, The Barnum Museum, The Knife Thrower, and Dangerous Laughter.
