Steve Coll（スティーブ・コル、1958年生まれ）は、アメリカのジャーナリスト、作家。コロンビア大学大学院ジャーナリズムスクール学部長、コロンビア大学ジャーナリズム教授。長年にわたり The Washington Post の記者・編集者として活動し、南アジア、中東、国家安全保障、情報機関、エネルギー問題を取材した。調査報道の第一人者として知られ、綿密な取材と膨大な資料に基づくノンフィクションで高い評価を受けている。2004年刊行の『Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and Bin Laden, from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001』で2005年のピューリッツァー賞 一般ノンフィクション部門を受賞した。さらに、2018年刊行の『Directorate S』は、アフガニスタン戦争を描いた『Ghost Wars』の続編として高く評価されている。著書に『Ghost Wars』『Private Empire』『Directorate S』『The Achilles Trap』などがある。
Steve Coll (born 1958) is an American journalist, author, and academic. He is Professor of Journalism at Columbia University and previously served as Dean of the Columbia Journalism School. During his distinguished career at The Washington Post, he worked as a reporter, foreign correspondent, and managing editor, covering South Asia, the Middle East, intelligence, national security, and energy. Widely regarded as one of America's leading investigative journalists, he is known for deeply researched narrative nonfiction based on extensive reporting and documentary evidence. His landmark book "Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and Bin Laden, from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001" won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction. His later works include "Private Empire," an examination of ExxonMobil, "Directorate S," a sequel to "Ghost Wars," and "The Achilles Trap," a history of the relationship between the United States and Saddam Hussein's Iraq.
