Scott Chacon is a software developer and cofounder of GitHub who has worked to make Git more accessible to developers. He is also a cofounder of GitButler, a company developing tools for version control. His book “Pro Git” explains Git from its basic operations—recording changes, working with branches, and merging work—to collaboration on GitHub and Git’s internal structure. Chacon wrote the first edition; he and Ben Straub coauthored the second. The full book is available online, including in Japanese translation. Through GitHub, his writing, and his later work on GitButler, Chacon has focused on how developers manage code and work together.
