ソフィー・エルムハースト（Sophie Elmhirst） イギリスのジャーナリスト、ノンフィクション作家。『ガーディアン』の「Long Read」、1843 Magazine（『エコノミスト』）、『The Gentlewoman』、『Harper's Bazaar』などに寄稿し、社会問題や人間の営みを深い取材と緻密な筆致で描いてきた。2020年にはBritish Journalism AwardsのFeature Writer of the Yearを受賞した。デビュー作『Maurice and Maralyn』（未邦訳）は、1973年に118日間にわたって太平洋を漂流したイギリス人夫婦の実話をもとに、極限状況における愛と生存を描いたノンフィクションで、2024年ネロ賞ノンフィクション部門賞および総合賞（Golden Nero Book of the Year）を受賞した。
Sophie Elmhirst is a British journalist and nonfiction writer. Her work has appeared in *The Guardian*'s *Long Read*, *1843* magazine, *The Gentlewoman*, and *Harper's Bazaar*, where she has earned a reputation for deeply reported narrative journalism. She was named Feature Writer of the Year at the British Journalism Awards in 2020. Her debut book, *Maurice and Maralyn: An Extraordinary True Story of Shipwreck, Survival and Love*, reconstructs the remarkable story of a British couple who survived 118 days adrift in the Pacific Ocean after their yacht was destroyed by a whale. The book won both the 2024 Nero Book Award for Nonfiction and the overall Golden Nero Book of the Year, establishing Elmhirst as one of Britain's most accomplished narrative nonfiction writers.
