シャーウィン・B・ニューランド（Sherwin B. Nuland、1930–2014）は、アメリカの外科医、作家。イェール大学医学部臨床教授を務め、外科、生命倫理、医学史を専門とした。30年以上にわたる臨床経験をもとに、医学と人間の生と死を一般読者にわかりやすく伝えるノンフィクションを数多く執筆し、終末期医療や老い、人間の尊厳について深い考察を行った。代表作『人間らしい死にかた』では、死に至る身体の変化を医学的知見に基づいて率直に描き、「死」と向き合うことの意味を問いかけた。1994年の全米図書賞（ノンフィクション部門）を受賞している。
Sherwin B. Nuland (1930–2014) was an American surgeon and author. A clinical professor of surgery at the Yale School of Medicine, he taught surgery, bioethics, and the history of medicine while drawing on more than three decades of clinical practice to write acclaimed works for general readers. His books explored medicine, aging, and mortality with a rare combination of scientific insight and human compassion. His best-known book, *How We Die: Reflections on Life's Final Chapter*, demystified the physical realities of death and reshaped public discussion about end-of-life care. It won the 1994 National Book Award for Nonfiction.
