首藤 若菜（しゅとう わかな、1973年–）は、日本の経済学者。立教大学経済学部教授。東京都生まれ。博士（学術）。労使関係論、女性労働論を専門とし、企業で働く人々への調査を通じて、雇用保障や賃金、男女間の処遇格差を研究している。宅配サービスを支える労働の実態に迫る『物流危機は終わらない――暮らしを支える労働のゆくえ』では、トラック運転手の長時間労働や低賃金を、運送業界の取引構造や荷主・消費者との関係から分析。「送料無料」や迅速な配達を維持する負担を、誰が引き受けているのかを問いかける。また、不況時に企業が人員と賃金をどう調整するかを扱う『雇用か賃金か――日本の選択』では、コロナ禍の航空業界を国際比較し、百貨店の出向・転籍も検討する。企業内で雇用を守る仕組みの利点と限界を見つめ、働き続けられる社会を支える制度と労働組合の役割を考察している。

Wakana Shuto (born 1973) is a Japanese economist and professor in the College of Economics at Rikkyo University. Born in Tokyo, she holds a doctorate and specializes in industrial relations and women’s employment. Her research uses workplace investigations to examine job security, wages, and gender disparities in employment. In “Butsuryu Kiki wa Owaranai: Kurashi o Sasaeru Rodo no Yukue,” she explores Japan’s logistics crisis through the long hours and low pay of truck drivers, connecting working conditions with industry structures and the demands of shippers and consumers. The book asks who bears the cost of fast delivery and supposedly free shipping. In “Koyo ka Chingin ka: Nihon no Sentaku,” she examines how employers adjust staffing and pay when demand contracts. Comparing airlines’ responses to the pandemic across countries and investigating secondments and transfers in Japanese department stores, she considers both the strengths and limitations of protecting employment within individual companies. Across these studies, Shuto examines the institutions and collective representation needed to sustain decent working lives.
