島村 恭則（SHIMAMURA Takanori）- 民俗学者、関西学院大学社会学部教授

島村恭則（しまむら・たかのり、1967年–）は、日本の民俗学者。筑波大学大学院博士課程歴史・人類学研究科を経て博士（文学）を取得し、関西学院大学社会学部教授・学部長、現代民俗学会会長を務める。人々が制度や専門家に頼らず日常生活のなかで生み出し、伝えてきた知識や表現を「ヴァナキュラー」という視点から研究し、民俗学の対象を伝統的な祭りや農村文化だけでなく、都市生活、移民、食、うわさ、インターネット上の文化へと広げている。著書『みんなの民俗学―ヴァナキュラーってなんだ？』では、身近な習慣や語りを手がかりに、現代社会を読み解く民俗学の方法を紹介した。

Takanori Shimamura (1967–) is a Japanese folklorist and professor at Kwansei Gakuin University. He earned a doctorate in literature after studying history and anthropology at the University of Tsukuba and has served as dean of the university’s School of Sociology and president of the Society of Modern Folklore Studies. His research uses the concept of the vernacular to examine knowledge and cultural expressions created and transmitted through everyday life outside formal institutions. By studying urban life, migration, foodways, rumors, and online culture as well as traditional customs, he has broadened the scope of contemporary folklore studies. In “Minna no Minzokugaku: Vanakyura tte Nanda?” (Folklore for Everyone: What Is the Vernacular?), he shows how ordinary habits and narratives can reveal the structures of contemporary society.
