島田裕巳(しまだ・ひろみ、1953年生まれ)は、日本の宗教学者、作家。東京大学大学院人文科学研究科博士課程修了。放送教育開発センター助教授、日本女子大学教授、東京大学先端科学技術研究センター特任研究員などを歴任し、現在は著述活動を中心に幅広く活躍している。宗教学を専門とし、日本の宗教文化、新宗教、葬送、神社・仏教史などを一般読者向けにわかりやすく解説した著作で知られる。『創価学会』『葬式は、要らない』『浄土真宗はなぜ日本でいちばん多いのか』『なぜ八幡神社が日本でいちばん多いのか』など著書多数。

Hiromi Shimada (born 1953) is a Japanese scholar of religion and author. He earned his Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of Tokyo and has held academic positions at the National Institute of Multimedia Education, Japan Women's University, and the University of Tokyo. Specializing in the study of religion, he has written extensively on Japanese religious culture, new religious movements, Buddhism, Shinto, and funeral practices for a broad readership. His best-known books include "Soka Gakkai," "Funerals Are Unnecessary," "Why Jōdo Shinshū Is Japan's Largest Buddhist Sect," and "Why Hachiman Shrines Are the Most Numerous in Japan."
