Masami Shikata is a Japanese translator of English-language nonfiction on parenting, psychology, society, and everyday life. She graduated from International Christian University. Rachel Louise Moran’s history of postpartum mental health examines how understanding and support developed alongside women’s movements and social change. Claudia Goldin’s “Career and Family” considers institutions and working practices that make combining employment with family life difficult. Shikata’s translations also include Pamela Druckerman’s account of French parenting and Hal Elrod’s “The Miracle Morning.” Across these books, she introduces approaches to familiar experiences while connecting individual choices and habits with the social conditions in which people live.
