Justin Torres (born 1980) is an American novelist whose lyrical and formally inventive fiction explores family, identity, sexuality, memory, and belonging. He first gained widespread recognition with *We the Animals*, a semi-autobiographical debut novel portraying the childhood of three brothers growing up in rural New York. Acclaimed for its poetic language and emotional intensity, the novel established Torres as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary American literature.
