Joseph Lelyveld（ジョセフ・レリヴェルド、1937–2024）は、アメリカのジャーナリスト、作家、編集者。ハーバード大学卒業後、The New York Times に入社し、南アフリカ、香港、ロンドンなどの特派員を歴任した。その後、外信編集長、エグゼクティブ・エディター（編集主幹）を務め、同紙を代表するジャーナリストの一人として活躍した。人種問題、植民地主義、アパルトヘイト、国際政治をテーマとする報道とノンフィクションで高く評価され、1985年には南アフリカ報道でピューリッツァー賞 国際報道部門を受賞した。1995年刊行の『Mr. and Mrs. Foster』は、南アフリカの白人夫妻を通してアパルトヘイト社会を描いた作品として、1996年のピューリッツァー賞 一般ノンフィクション部門を受賞した。著書に『Move Your Shadow』『Mr. and Mrs. Foster』『Omaha Blues』『Great Soul』などがある。
Joseph Lelyveld (1937–2024) was an American journalist, author, and editor. After graduating from Harvard University, he joined The New York Times, where he served as a foreign correspondent in South Africa, Hong Kong, and London before becoming Executive Editor. Widely regarded as one of America's leading journalists, he was acclaimed for his reporting on apartheid, colonialism, race, and international affairs. He received the 1985 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting for his coverage of South Africa. His book Mr. and Mrs. Foster, an intimate portrait of a white South African couple living under apartheid, won the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction. His other notable works include "Move Your Shadow: South Africa, Black and White," "Omaha Blues," and "Great Soul: Mahatma Gandhi and His Struggle with India."
