Jonathan Martineau is a Canadian scholar of social theory and political economy. He is an associate professor at the Liberal Arts College of Concordia University in Montreal and director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Time, Technology and Capitalism. His work spans intellectual history, critical theory, and technology studies, with particular attention to how capitalism reorganizes time and social relations. In “Algorithmic Capital: Resistance in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” co-authored with Jonathan Durand Folco, he examines AI and algorithms not simply as technologies but as a new form of capital that restructures labor, politics, culture, and everyday life through data extraction and prediction.
