John McPhee（ジョン・マクフィー、1931年生まれ）は、アメリカの作家、ジャーナリスト。プリンストン大学名誉教授。プリンストン大学卒業後、ケンブリッジ大学で学び、Time 誌を経て、1965年から The New Yorker のスタッフライターとして活動している。地質学、自然科学、環境、スポーツ、交通、人物評伝など幅広いテーマを扱い、緻密な取材と卓越した文章力によって、現代アメリカを代表するノンフィクション作家の一人と評価されている。1998年刊行の『Annals of the Former World』は、北アメリカ大陸の地質とその歴史を壮大なスケールで描いた作品として、1999年のピューリッツァー賞 一般ノンフィクション部門を受賞した。著書に『Coming into the Country』『Basin and Range』『The Control of Nature』『Annals of the Former World』『Draft No. 4』などがある。

His monumental "Annals of the Former World," a sweeping exploration of the geology of North America, won the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction.
