Jeanne Theoharis is an American political scientist and Distinguished Professor of Political Science and History at Brooklyn College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Her research focuses on the African American freedom struggle, policing and racial justice, and the history of American democracy. She is widely recognized for challenging conventional narratives that confine the civil rights movement to the American South and for highlighting its broader national dimensions. Her best-known book, "The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks," reexamines Rosa Parks as a lifelong activist who fought racial injustice far beyond the Montgomery bus boycott, offering a fresh perspective on the history of the civil rights movement.
