『二重らせん』(原題 "The Double Helix: A Personal Account of the Discovery of the Structure of DNA")は、DNA構造の発見に至る過程を研究者自身の視点から描き、科学的発見の喜びや競争、研究現場の実像を生き生きと伝えている。
James D. Watson (James Dewey Watson, born 1928) is an American molecular biologist who co-discovered the double-helix structure of DNA with Francis Crick. He shared the 1962 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Crick and Maurice Wilkins for discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nucleic acids and their significance for genetic information transfer. His best-known book, "The Double Helix: A Personal Account of the Discovery of the Structure of DNA," recounts the race to uncover DNA's structure, offering a firsthand account of scientific collaboration, rivalry, and discovery.
