James Forman Jr.（ジェームズ・フォーマン・ジュニア、1968年生まれ）は、アメリカの法学者、弁護士、作家。イェール大学法科大学院教授。ブラウン大学卒業後、イェール大学ロースクールで法務博士（J.D.）を取得した。公選弁護人や青少年司法制度改革の実務を経て学界に入り、刑事司法、憲法、教育法を専門に研究している。大量収監、人種的不平等、刑事司法制度改革をテーマとする研究と社会活動で高く評価されており、著書『Locking Up Our Own: Crime and Punishment in Black America』は、アフリカ系アメリカ人社会における犯罪と刑罰の複雑な歴史を描いた作品として、2018年のピューリッツァー賞 一般ノンフィクション部門を受賞した。
James Forman Jr. (born 1968) is an American legal scholar, lawyer, and author. He is the J. Skelly Wright Professor of Law at the Yale Law School. After graduating from Brown University, he earned his Juris Doctor from Yale Law School. Before entering academia, he worked as a public defender and founded a charter school for students involved in the juvenile justice system. His scholarship focuses on criminal law, constitutional law, education law, and criminal justice reform, with particular emphasis on mass incarceration and racial inequality. His acclaimed book "Locking Up Our Own: Crime and Punishment in Black America" examines the complex role of African American communities and leaders in shaping crime policy and won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction.
